Hand In Glove

Finally I found a first pressing of the debut 7” by the Smiths. They still used a Manchester contact address on the back of the sleeve. Great single and pretty cool b-side. Funny enough this is the only single that was released only in the UK.

Sorry about the poor pictures, silver sleeve and not enough light never works out.

Last night I dreamt…

…somebody gave me two test presses. Of course that didn’t happen, but I did buy two on Discogs last week. Both are Smiths singles. Of course they don’t have a cover, so I posted the poster two, to make it a bit less boring.

That Joke Isn’t Funny Anymore from the Meat Is Murder LP.

Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me from the Strangeways Here We Come LP.

Moz

Two great mid nineties single by Morrissey, excellent warm up for the new record. My Love Life doesn’t get that much love. Maybe the lyrics are a bit basic, but I really like the vibe of the song. The More You Ignore Me… is a song that is played more during live shows and probably is one of the best Morrissey songs.

Buy in bulk

Lately I had some good luck with finding cheap Smiths records. Especially if you buy them in bulk, I managed to get them for a great price. Sadly there are a few doubles, but still it is worth it for the ones I don’t have and the rest is great for trading purposes.

The boots

Such a shame Discogs is hammering down on bootlegs hard. But the flipside is that people try to sell them cheap now trough other means. So I stepped in and grabbed a few.

I started something…

That I couldn’t finish. Not sure what it is, probably my Smiths collection.

Anyway I found this promo/test press 12” of the I Started… single and I also noticed I didnt have the regular 7” yet. So it seems the best time to correct this.

The Smiths mate

I added two Australian singles to the ever growing Smiths collection. Thanks to the internet, theseare much easier to track down. Still surprises me why most singles just came in a company sleeve and the rest that dis came with a photo sleeve had a total different sleeve from their European counterpart.

Louder Than Bombs

While searching for Swedish Smiths records and other cheap finds. I ran across a copy of The Louder Than Bombs double LP. This album has a great mix of singles, album tracks and b-sides of the Smiths.

Normally I would have passed it, but I decided to pull the records out and I discovered it is the somewhat more rare Canadian pressing. Seeing I was on holiday, I decided to treat myself with picking it up.

Finally Sweden

I did up finding a few affordable Swedish pressings too of the Smiths. Sadly not the rare singles but more the regular records. Still stoked to have found them.

Wrong country

While hitting up the record stores in Denmark and Sweden, I really wanted to find some local pressings of the Smiths records. I did find a few but my best find would be these Greek pressings. Especially the How Soon Is Now 12″ is a nice one, since the pressed with purple/lilac ink instead of the more common navy blue ink. So this one is pretty rare to find. Sheila Take A Bow is less rare and the only added a bunch of Greek text to the front and back of the sleeve. I love these different pressings, so fun to track down.
