The Australian promo with a thorn

This is probably my favorite Smiths single, How Soon is Now follows closely.

What makes this single so great is the good a-side and the perfect b-sides. Especially Asleep is such an amazing and underrated Smiths track.

This is the Australian version, but what it makes it even more rare, the black and white labels indicate that it is an promo edition. I haven’t found any in the wild ever.

Mozzer

The new Morrissey single arrived today. Again a single sleeve in the similar style sleeve as the previous singles taken of this latest record. Again clear vinyl, just like the previous singles.

Die Smiths

Two German singles, I picked up last week, one came with a nice promo insert, written in German.

Love the sleeve design for Some Girls Are Bigger Than Others. It looks so good.

Smiths goes North America

Two singles arrived just before the weekend. One is the Canadian retail version of Ask and the other one is a promo version of The Headmaster Ritual.

How Soon Is Now

I was very happy to score a copy of this How Soon Is Now? 7″ by the Smiths. Despite being a Dutch release, it is hard to find in the wild here. The variation with the saw blade Megadisc labels is even more rare.

Hand in Glove

Shandie Shaw made this 12″ together with the Smiths and they basically just recorded Smiths songs with Shandie singing. As always Germany got a crazy colored splatter pressing.

Sheila on yellow

Like a ton of early Smiths singles, Germany always got colored vinyl. Tracking them down, nowadays is a struggle. But I do enjoy the hunting aspect of it.

Ringleaders

Another long overdue record in my collection is the follow up to the excellent You Are The Quarry. A few less hits but still amazing stuff by Morrissey. No idea why I didn’t buy the LP and went for the cd version.

International line up

Added a few Smiths and related stuff to the collection. I am most excited about The Boy… 12″ made for the Japanese market. It has a nice OBI and a multilingual insert. Plus those Japanese pressings always sound top notch.

Further more I added the Spanish pressing of Hand In Glove 7″ by Shandie Show. This is basically a cover 7″ with the Smiths as studio artist. Funny thing is that a lot of countries got there own pressing in both the 7″ and 12″ format. Each format had his distinctive own cover. However the design for the 12″ was also used as the design for the 7″ in Spain.

Finally thing todo is this double LP of songs chosen by Morrissey as his inspiration. Despite the sleeve, you don’t hear Morrissey on the actual record as far as I know.

More Moz and the Smiths

Added two 7″s last week. First the Irish pressing of the Boy With A Thorn In His Side which has the best b-side ever Asleep. Second is this We Hate… 7″ made for the European market.
