Promises Kept still is one of my favorites from the last decade. I loved the 7″s Champion put out, but the LP was the game changer. One of the few perfect youth crew records. It took me a while to find this variation of the record, but when you least expected a fellow record trader throws it into my lap. I was very happy with that.
This variation is limited to 12 copies. The story how this version came together is the following. Bridge 9 records asked 150 copies to be rushed made for the record release show, but ended up with 162 copies since pressing plants mostly do an overrun. 150 copies where sold at the record release show. A year or two after Champion broke up, Bridge 9 started clearing up the warehouse with selling records that didn’t have sleeves, with a custom made warehouse sleeve, to clean up the warehouse a bit. They sold 205 copies of the Champion LP in the warehouse but they used the regular pressing of either black or tan colored vinyl. But soon word spread they also made a slightly different warehouse sleeve for the remaining 12 copies of the record release vinyl. So the hunt was on.
